The story

The Pornstar Martini was created in 2002 by Douglas Ankrah at his London bar Townhouse, after he had already helped define the city's cocktail boom at LAB. He initially called it the Maverick, after a club in Cape Town, before settling on the name that guaranteed its fortune; Ankrah said it was simply what he imagined a porn star would drink. Vanilla vodka and passion fruit, with a shot of Champagne served alongside like a chaperone, it became Britain's best-selling cocktail in the 2010s. Ankrah died in 2021, his drink outselling drinks a century older. It endures because fun, shamelessly engineered, still works.
